    Parental Fortnightly News

We are delighted to share some updates and reminders with our academy community.

Highlight of the Week - The Addams Family

What a fantastic week it has been at our theatre! The atmosphere was electric as staff, students, parents, and members of our local community gathered in anticipation of the much-anticipated performance of The Addams Family.

Under the leadership of our talented Performing Arts team, an extraordinary cast and crew of over 70 dedicated individuals came together to bring this musical to life.

The show ran for three sold-out fantastic nights, leaving audiences both thrilled and delighted by the spooktacular performances. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved—your hard work and passion made this production an unforgettable experience!

    Route to success

On Thursday 13th March, we welcomed Guest Speaker Sander De Groot to OSA. Sander De Groot is a renowned educational consultant with extensive experience in helping students optimise their study habits and achieve their academic goals. Throughout the day, Sander delivered engaging workshops to Year 7, Year 11, and Sixth Form students and, in the evening, we hosted a practical and interactive session for students and families. The sessions provided valuable strategies for revision, knowledge retention, and preparation for success in the summer exams.

The next few months are pivotal for our Year 11 and Year 13 students, and we are committed to working closely with you to ensure their success. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

    FOSA Roller Disco

Saturday 1st March saw FOSA host our first roller disco with the support and guidance of ChaCha Sk8 and LSkate. Students and families enjoyed the session, filled with music, dancing and so much fun!

OSA student Oli said “Thank you. It was great fun. I saw a lot of people from my school, and it was so relaxing!”  It was a lovely event; everyone had a great time, including quite a few students who had never tried skating before. One skater said that he was really pleased he learnt to do it in half an hour.

FOSA's next event is on Friday 9th May, the annual Quiz and Curry night. More information will follow shortly.

Important Reminder About Attendance and Punctuality

Research consistently shows that regular attendance and punctuality are key to helping students reach their full potential in education.

At Oxford Spires Academy, we are committed to partnering with parents and carers to ensure that every child attends school regularly and on time. We are always happy to work together to resolve any attendance challenges, but we are also dedicated to maintaining high standards of attendance across the school. To support this, we have updated our escalation process. Moving forward, you can expect a call from us if your child has had any absence during the previous week. This is simply to check in and offer support, ensuring we are aware of any additional help or information your child might need. Even if your child has strong attendance or there are valid reasons for their absence, we want to stay connected with families to foster positive, proactive conversations about the importance of good attendance.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us achieve the best outcomes for all our students.

    Eid al-Fitr

We understand Eid al-Fitr is being celebrated from Sunday 30th March 2025. One day will be authorised for students celebrating Eid al-Fitr on Monday 31st March should students wish to participate in this religious observance.

Any unscheduled absences following in that week will be marked as unauthorised. We do not anticipate additional days of absence. Please complete the following form Click here by Wednesday 26th March to identify whether your child will be absent on Monday 31st March due to celebrating Eid al-Fitr.

    School Uniform

As we approach the time of year when parents and carers are starting to think about purchasing school uniform for the next academic year, we wanted to take this opportunity to remind parents that only students currently in Year 7 and our new intake for Sept 2025 must wear the new school uniform which includes a black jumpers, school blazer and optional purple kilt. All other year groups can continue to wear their purple jumpers.

To make it easier to buy the Academy uniform, we have chosen to use the Parents’ Online ordering service from Price & Buckland. You can order the Academy uniform by clicking here.  If you have any questions regarding OSA school uniform, please  contact scrook@oxfordspires.anthemtrust.uk
