The Oxford Spires Sixth Form curriculum is an exciting blend of elements which combine to provide an excellent preparation for students to enter university, to follow an alternative career path, and for life beyond school. We offer both A Level and vocational subjects with rigour and depth. Our courses are taught by subject experts who deliver outstanding, dynamic and stimulating lessons.

In choosing Sixth Form subjects, students should not only consider what they enjoy and what they are good at, but also the right combination of subjects for their chosen degree or career. Students should also take into account their predicted grades, and whether they are sufficient to take the study of those specific subjects further.

The broad range of subjects on offer is designed to give a personalised programme of study, delivering excellent standards of learning and teaching, enabling greater support and ultimately successful outcomes. Unlike many schools, we do not start with a pre-determined list of options, but design our timetable afresh each year in order to accommodate the wishes of students. Although no guarantee can be given that every choice of subjects will be accessible, we are usually able to provide most students with their first preferences.

To study in the Sixth Form at Oxford Spires, students must achieve at least five grade 5's with a minimum of grade 4 in both English and Maths, is expected. In addition, each subject has its own specific entry criteria, the details of which can be found in the Sixth Form Course Guide. Students are expected to study three subjects plus the EPQ, students with a minimum of seven 7-9 grades have the option to study four A Levels.

Applications are made online between 29 November and 28 February.

Wednesday 27 November 2024 : Mock 1 results, Fast Track Sixth Form offers sent 

Thursday 28 November 2024 : Sixth Form Open Evening 18:00 – 20:00 

Friday 20 December 2024 : Year 11 Taster Day

January 2024: Fast Track Sixth Form interviews with the Headteacher

February 2025: Sixth Form interviews for internal applications

Friday 28 February 2025 : Applications to be submitted by midnight

March 2025: Sixth Form interviews for external applications

Easter 2025 : All applicants contacted by this time, Sixth Form subject blocks confirmed

May 2025: Year 12 Transition Packs published

Monday 23 June 2025 : Sixth Form Induction 

Thursday 21 August 2025 : GCSE Results Day. Please ensure you can attend Oxford Spires in person on this day for enrolment.
